Diamondback Guest Column: Working for Workers

Chris Harris, SGA legislator, writes in the Diamondback on 11/20/11:

While this report made some important recommendations, it didn’t go nearly far enough to address blatant and disturbing violations of workers’ rights. Upon its release, the workers and those who support the workers’ rights movement fired back with disapproval. In a recent open forum held by the BFSA, workers attacked the report, saying it only scratches the surface of the sexual abuse and supervisor harassment that workers face. As of now, workers feel as if the university has yet to truly respond to their grievances. They believe the fight for greater rights must continue until their demands are met.
